Construction of Burj Khalifa with challenge and facts Part 1
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world.
Its height is 2716 feet. There is an investment of 1.5 billion dollars in Burj Khalifa. It is considered a great deed of engineering history. This great deed was done by engineers, architects, and workers. There are a lot of challenges in the design and construction of Burj Khalifa.
The 1st challenge was to construct and complete the Burj Khalifa within the time limit. only 6 years were given to engineers to complete this task. The engineers require 3 years to complete the only design. Now it is looking impossible to construct Burj Khalifa in the remaining 3 years.
Therefore Engineers decided to start construction of Burj Khalifa without design. They planned to design and construct Burj Khalifa in a parallel way. The construction starts digging the site for construction of the basement of Burj Khalifa. The architects were working in parallel for designing the building.
The 2nd challenge was that when the company started construction basement of Burj Khalifa, they have no hard surface on the ground on which the building will stand. this was another problem. usually, the construction of large buildings depends on huge stones under their basement. but here the scenario was different, only sand was present under the basement. it is impossible to construct such a huge building on sand and small stones. now it was planned to make some solution to overcome this difficulty.
The specialist creates a solution for this and designs 192 solid steel pipes for the basement.
This was amazing but it works really. The Burj Khalifa was constructed on these 192 solid steel pipes. Each steel pipe was 50 meters under the earth. The Burj Khalifa weight was distributed equally on these pipes.
The 3rd challenge was the design of Burj Khalifa. The Emaar was the principal company that was working on the construction of Burj Khalifa. They hired a top-level USA-based firm from Chicago for the design of Burj Khalifa. The firm has previous experience of constructing world large buildings. The Frim has the world’s most popular architect Adrain smith. he got worried after seeking the difficulties in builing design.
They have to design unique 160 stories builing with natural light come inside it. The firm has made a solution by working day and night. Adrain Smith proposed the Buttress structure for the Burj Khalifa.it is the first time in the history of engineering that this structure was proposed for a tall building.
The team is working hard and fast on construction. but after some height, another problem arises. The 4th challenge was the fresh supply of concrete material. The wet material got dry during supply. Therefore engineering team suggested a supply line passing inside the building for a fresh supply of concrete material.
The weight of concrete material is more thanĀ 1 lac elephant. For this purpose, the company installs the world’s three most powerful pumps for the supply of concrete material.
The team works sday and night to complete the construction of Burj Khalifa.
when the story of Burj Khalifa rises to 140 , it has become the world tallest building. but 5th challenge occur in consutrcuion of Burj Khalifa after reaching to 140 story. The cranes are working on Burj Khalifa have only limit to take the material from ground to 130 story.
The team brought world highly equipped cranes from all over the world and Crane operators. The crane operator working on top of the crane had been even sleeping in the crane after work. it was because many crane operators refused to work on top of the Burj Khalifa.
